FAQ

BOOKING A SERVICE

How do I book a service?

All information on how to make a booking can be found on the Booking page.

How far in advance do I need to book?

I prefer to receive requests for house sits at the very least one week out, and at least five days out for drop ins. If you are a new client, I will not be accepting requests less than a week out from the service start date. This is to ensure that we have time for a meet and greet prior to the service.

Do you accept last minute bookings?

Yes and no - this completely depends on the type of booking, and I only accept last minute requests from returning clients. I will typically be able to accept last minute drop in requests, but I am not as available for last minute house sit requests.

Are meet and greets required prior to services?

Yes, absolutely. Meet and greets help to protect both me and you, plus it gives you an opportunity to see how I interact with your animals. Meet and greets are free. More information on meet and greets can be found on the Policies page.

What happens at the meet and greet?

At a meet and greet, we will go over my standard policies and procedures. I will also have you show me around your home and have you walk me through your animal's schedule. You can use this time to ask me any questions you may have, but, of course, you can always shoot me a message if you forget to ask something!

PAYMENTs & REFUNDS

How do I make a payment?

Payment is made through my Venmo goods and services account, @PheraiaPetCare. I do not accept cash or checks.

When do I need to pay by?

For new clients, full payment is required upon confirmation of the booking - dates for new clients will not be held without full payment. For established clients, full payment is required at least five days prior to the service start date.

If you need to make payments in chunks, please let me know and we can discuss a payment schedule.

What is your refund policy?

If you cancel within three days of the service start date, you will receive a 25% refund. If you cancel between four and seven days prior to the service start date, you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel eight or more days prior to the service start date, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations due to extenuating circumstances will receive a full refund, no matter when the cancellation is made. If I am the one needing to cancel, you will receive a full refund.

Do you take tips?

Yes! Tips are not necessary but they are greatly appreciated. Tips can be left in cash, check, or sent to my Venmo, @PheraiaPetCare.

SERVICES

What areas do you service?

My servicable areas are extremely variable depending on drive time and distance. I live in Old Town Manassas and I typically provide services within a 15 mile, 30 minute radius, though this is subject to change and negotiable. Extra travel rates may apply for certain locations.

What kind of animals do you care for?

I'll care for any and all animals! Birds, reptiles, rodents - you name it, I'll take care of it. Special rates may apply for non-felines or canids.

Will you care for feral/stray cats I feed outside?

No, I will not.

What hours do you provide drop ins?

8 AM to 9 PM; if you would like drop ins outside of those hours, we can discuss if it is possible or not. Extra rates may apply.

Do you provide training services?

No. I will continue any training regiment you may already have in place, but I will not provide my own training. I do partner with Connected K9, a dog training business local to Northern Virginia with excellent trainers on staff.

Do you provide grooming services?

No, but I do recommend Hallie Izenberg for grooming services. Her work is viewable at @halnpals on Instagram.

What if my return is delayed?

Just send me a text or give me a call and we can figure something out! Depending on my availability calendar, I may be able to offer to extend a house sit or provide more drop ins. The standard rates will apply.

Will you be bringing anyone with you to the service?

No. It is my policy to never bring someone with me onto a client's property. Whether it be house sitting or drop ins, I will be the only person there for the service.

Can you give my animals medications?

Yes! I can give your animal topical, oral, or injected medications.

I have a family member/friend that lives close by and will drop in from time to time, is that okay?

If your family member or friend will be on the premises during the service dates, I will require you to sign a liability waiver and for you, or the third party, to notify me of when they will be on the property.

Do my animals need to be up to date on their vaccinations?

Yes! This is for both my safety and the safety of any other animals I may visit. Some diseases are highly communicable and can be transmitted by clothing. For this reason, up to date vaccinations are required.

Do you take aggressive/reactive animals?

Yes and no - it completely depends on the level of aggression and/or reactivity as well as if the dog is currently in training for those behaviors. To ensure everything goes smoothly, please be completely honest and upfront about your animal's behaviors.
